Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Backs GST Reforms, Accuses Congress of “Political Drama”

New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday endorsed the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates that came into effect, framing them as a reform aimed at public welfare and simplicity.

“This GST reform is designed for societal convenience, simplicity, and empowerment,” Naqvi said, highlighting the government’s intention to make taxation more accessible and beneficial for ordinary citizens. He argued that the changes will ease compliance and directly benefit families through lower costs on essential goods and services.

Naqvi contrasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance style with that of the opposition. “The Congress keeps on thinking, but PM Modi makes it possible. It’s a family tradition of Congress to create political drama over every reform,” he alleged, suggesting that opposition criticism lacked substance and was motivated by partisan interests.
