Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Balyogi Umesh Nath has strongly condemned the arrest of ISKCON Bangladesh priest Chinmoy Krishna Das by Dhaka police. Speaking in Delhi, Nath highlighted the global significance of ISKCON, stating, “Lakhs and crores of people have devotion and faith towards ISKCON, which has an impact across the world.”

He expressed his disapproval of the incident, emphasizing its implications for the spiritual community. “If such a thing happens in Bangladesh with a saint, I condemn it in my capacity and on behalf of all the saints,” he added.

Nath also pointed out the contrast between the hospitality extended by India and the treatment of religious figures abroad. Referring to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s extended stays in India, he remarked, “Sheikh Hasina has been living here for days and is safe—it shows the tolerance of India and how we are providing shelter and security to a senior leader.”

The MP urged the Indian government to intervene, stating, “I think India will try to take strict action. We request the government to ensure the release of the saint with dignity.”

The incident has sparked outrage among ISKCON followers and devotees globally, who are seeking clarity on the reasons behind the arrest and demanding the priest’s immediate release. Meanwhile, diplomatic channels are expected to address the matter as calls for resolution grow.
