Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday announced a major boost to the state’s water conservation efforts, stating that he will visit Khandwa district to lay the foundation stone and perform Bhoomi Pujan for projects worth over ₹1,518 crore. The initiative is part of the state-wide Jal Ganga Sanrakshan Abhiyan, which has been underway for the past three months.

Speaking to the media ahead of his visit, CM Yadav lauded Khandwa for leading the country in water conservation efforts. “Khandwa is the district that has done the best work in water conservation across the entire country. The Ministry of Jal Shakti has recognised this achievement,” he said, adding that the district serves as a model for the rest of India.

The Jal Ganga Sanrakshan Abhiyan, launched under the CM’s leadership, has aimed to revive traditional water bodies, promote groundwater recharge, and create sustainable water management systems across Madhya Pradesh. According to officials, the new projects in Khandwa will focus on the construction and strengthening of water harvesting structures, canal systems, and reservoir desilting, among other interventions.

“The campaign has not only delivered tangible results on the ground but has also significantly increased public awareness about water conservation across the state,” Yadav remarked. He credited the local communities, government departments, and panchayats for their active participation in the campaign.
