Minister of State for the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, recently highlighted the significant progress women have made in Indian politics and various sectors. She pointed to the increasing representation of women in Parliament, with 74 women MPs elected to the Lok Sabha and 17 women MPs to the Rajya Sabha.
“74 women MPs have been elected to the Lok Sabha and 17 MPs have been elected to the Rajya Sabha,” Thakur said, emphasizing the growing influence of women in India’s political landscape. She added that women are now progressing in all fields, feeling both empowered and secure in their roles and also marking their contribution to the development of the country.
Thakur also underscored the expanding contributions of women across various domains, including politics, education, business, and health, stating that women’s participation in these fields has seen a significant rise.
“The contribution of women in every field has increased considerably,” she noted, reflecting on how women have broken barriers and continue to make a strong impact.
Her remarks came as part of a broader conversation on women’s empowerment and safety, as the government continues to focus on increasing opportunities for women’s participation and leadership in all sectors of society.
