Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed his strong support for the 'One Nation, One Election' proposal, calling it a beneficial step for the nation’s progress. Yadav praised the initiative introduced by Prime Minister Modi and the BJP, emphasizing that simultaneous elections would not only save resources but also provide a complete five-year term for development.
Yadav pointed out that elections were once held under a similar system, and bringing it back would be an efficient move for the country. He noted that the system would streamline the electoral process, reducing frequent election cycles and allowing the government to focus on long-term governance and development goals.
“This will not only save resources but also provide a full 5 years for development. This is a good proposal,” said Yadav.
The 'One Nation, One Election' concept has garnered both support and opposition, with proponents like Yadav stressing the benefits of reducing election-related expenditures and disruptions. On the other hand, critics have raised concerns regarding its impact on federalism and the functioning of smaller political parties.
With key political leaders showing divergent views, the debate over the proposal is likely to continue as the government moves forward with the initiative.
