Mehbooba Mufti

Jammu, J&K | Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday launched a strong attack on National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah, accusing him and his party of misleading the people ahead of the Budgam by-poll and failing to fulfill past promises.

Addressing reporters, Mufti said the National Conference has “nothing to say to the public” and is now resorting to rhetoric instead of accountability. She alleged that Omar Abdullah, who earlier promised to remove electricity smart meters if voted to power, has now reversed his stance.

“Today, the same Omar Sahib is advocating for smart meters, also asking the public to install solar panels, and then he will see about free power units,” Mufti said. She further pointed out that the NC’s earlier assurances — including providing gas cylinders and bringing back under-trial detainees from outside jails — remain unfulfilled.

“Despite failing on every front, for how long will Omar Sahib continue with his PDP-BJP talks? He should tell what work he has done in the last year,” she added.
