Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati raised concerns over the plight of Dalit and marginalized Hindu communities facing crimes in neighboring Bangladesh. Speaking at a press conference, she criticized the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP), alleging their silence on the issue despite their political rhetoric.
“Hindus, especially Dalits and those from weaker sections, are becoming victims of large-scale crimes in Bangladesh,” Mayawati stated. She accused the Congress of focusing solely on Muslim votes while ignoring the sufferings of Dalits. "Congress is shouting 'Be careful' for political mileage, but it is silent on this matter. Congress and SP are two sides of the same coin," she added.
Mayawati called on the BJP-led central government to take immediate action. “The government should fulfill its responsibility to protect the Dalit community. If these victims cannot be safeguarded there, they should be brought back to India through diplomatic efforts,” she asserted.
She also attributed the current situation to the alleged negligence of past Congress governments, stating that their policies had led to ongoing exploitation.
The BSP chief's remarks underscore the urgency of addressing crimes against Dalits in Bangladesh and ensuring their safety. She emphasized the need for a strong stance by the Indian government to resolve the issue diplomatically and humanely.
Mayawati’s statement adds to growing calls for accountability and action to support vulnerable communities abroad, particularly those with historic ties to India.
