Delhi: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has hit out at AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over his announcement of the Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship, accusing him of election-time opportunism. Tiwari alleged that Kejriwal had failed to implement welfare measures for the Scheduled Castes during his tenure, only to make promises ahead of polls.

“In every state of our country, the Narendra Modi government provides special scholarships to the Scheduled Castes. In Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal stopped these initiatives. Now, at the time of elections, he is saying that he will do it,” Tiwari said. He further questioned Kejriwal’s commitment to the community, asking, “What were you doing for 10 years? The public is not going to believe what you are saying at the time of elections.”

The Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship, aimed at providing educational support to Scheduled Caste students, is one of several initiatives Kejriwal’s government has announced in the run-up to the elections. However, the BJP has repeatedly accused AAP of using such schemes as last-minute attempts to sway voters, pointing to alleged lapses in fulfilling similar promises in the past.

The political battle over welfare initiatives for marginalized communities continues to heat up as Delhi approaches a crucial election season.
