Imphal, Manipur: A group of activists in Manipur has launched a relay hunger strike to condemn the brutal killings of six innocent women and children in Jiribam district on November 11, 2024. The strike, led by Tarun Kumar, the Vice President of Uripok Apunba Lup, continues on its tenth day as protesters demand justice for the victims.
Speaking to the media, Kumar stated, “We have launched this agitation in the form of a relay hunger strike to condemn the brutal killing of six innocent women and children by suspected Kuki militants in Jiribam district. Today is the tenth day of the strike, and it will continue until and unless the culprits are booked under the law of this land.”
The killings, which have sparked widespread outrage in the region, are believed to have been carried out by suspected militants from the Kuki community. Local organizations and citizens are demanding swift action from authorities to hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure justice for the victims' families.
The hunger strike has drawn attention to the ongoing violence and instability in the region, with protesters urging the government to take a firm stand against militant groups and restore peace in the state.
