New Delhi: Animal rights activist and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi on Wednesday announced the launch of CineKind, a new platform created through a partnership between the Film Federation of India (FFI) and People for Animals (PFA). The initiative aims to recognise and reward films that promote compassion, kindness, and humane values.
“The Film Federation of India and People for Animals have gone into a partnership in which a new entity called CineKind has formed,” Gandhi said. “Now CineKind, which is owned by the Film Federation of India, will give awards every year—10 awards to the most compassionate films that bring in humane work,” she added.
Gandhi revealed that the CineKind Awards will be held annually on October 4, marking World Animal Day. Expressing enthusiasm about the collaboration, she said, “We’re very excited about this because it’s going to be every year on October 4. Films change the culture of India. They influence us like nothing else.”
Highlighting the importance of industry-wide participation, Gandhi added, “It’s really important to involve the entire film industry. And the Film Federation is the biggest federation in India.”
