Bengaluru: The ministers and legislators from Mandya district extended their congratulations to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar following two landmark decisions by the state government.

The government has approved the establishment of a new Agricultural University in Mandya, a move expected to boost agricultural research and education in the region. Additionally, the cabinet has decided to waive the ₹52 crore electricity bill that the state-owned Mysore Sugar Factory had been unable to pay for the past 24 years.

These decisions were hailed as significant steps toward supporting farmers and revitalizing key industries in the district. The Agricultural University is expected to bring technological advancements to the farming community, while the waiver provides much-needed relief to the historic sugar factory, which has faced financial challenges.
