New Delhi: MakeMyTrip, one of India’s leading online travel booking platforms, is looking to expand its product portfolio and scale up in emerging segments like cruises and experiential tourism, according to Co-Founder & Group CEO Rajesh Magow. In an interview with PTI on Monday, Magow shared that the company sees significant growth opportunities in these sectors and is keen on becoming a comprehensive one-stop shop for travelers.
"We are focused on adding new products and services to our portfolio, scaling up where there is significant headroom for growth, and ensuring that our core business continues to grow at a higher rate," Magow stated, outlining the company’s growth strategy. MakeMyTrip is already a dominant player in online travel booking in India, but the company is determined to tap into more niche markets, with a particular emphasis on experiential travel and cruise bookings, areas with substantial potential for growth.
Magow also expressed confidence in the company's ongoing profitability, attributing it to the positive effects of past investments, the rise in disposable incomes among Indians, and changing consumer preferences. "Indian consumers are increasingly spending more on travel and experiences, which bodes well for our platform," he noted, highlighting the shift towards leisure travel and unique, personalized experiences.
