Darbhanga: Jubilant scenes unfolded in Darbhanga on Thursday as early trends in the Bihar Assembly Elections showed BJP candidate and renowned folk singer Maithili Thakur leading from the Alinagar constituency. The 25-year-old debutant, who has drawn immense popularity among youth and cultural circles, said she felt deeply moved by the affection and trust shown by the electorate.

“I am feeling really good. I never doubted the result would be like this. The love people have shown me and my party is heartwarming,” Thakur said, reacting to the initial leads. She added that her connection with the people of Alinagar has always gone beyond electoral politics. “I am a daughter of this soil and never saw voters as just voters, but as family, and people have responded the same way. I’m just 25, but I will prove myself in the days ahead.”

As celebrations broke out among BJP supporters, Thakur herself joined in by singing a traditional badhai geet, her voice carrying through the gathering as party workers cheered the early indications of an emphatic NDA victory. Her rendition symbolised both gratitude and cultural pride, reflecting the unique bond she shares with the people of the region.
