New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the damage caused by heavy rains and subsequent floods in several districts of the state, particularly in the Marathwada region.
Fadnavis, who shared details of the meeting on social media, described it as an honour to meet the Prime Minister and seek his guidance on a range of issues. He submitted a formal request letter seeking central assistance through the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to support recovery efforts in the flood-affected areas.
According to the Chief Minister, the floods have had a significant impact on farmers, damaging crops and livelihoods across multiple districts. The situation has added to the economic challenges in Marathwada, which has already faced recurrent droughts in previous years.
