Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand) — Continuous rainfall in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district led to a major disruption in the Kedarnath Yatra on Thursday, after landslides and falling debris blocked key routes near Sonprayag shuttle bridge and the sliding zone near Munkatiya. The obstruction completely halted the movement of pilgrims and vehicles for several hours.

As a precautionary measure, authorities stopped Kedarnath-bound pilgrims at Sonprayag and Gaurikund to ensure their safety. Local police, administrative officials, and the working agency coordinated closely to monitor the situation and carry out debris clearance operations amid ongoing rain and risk of further landslides.

Once the road was cleared of debris and assessed to be safe, the movement of pilgrims resumed in a phased and controlled manner. “The opening and closing of the road is being regulated, and all movement is being allowed only after ensuring safety,” said an official from the local administration.
