Kolkata, West Bengal — Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has responded to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet regarding alleged electoral irregularities in Maharashtra, pointing out that such malpractices were first identified and opposed in West Bengal by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Addressing reporters on Saturday, Ghosh said, “The voter list had several irregularities. Mamata ji caught this in Bengal. Voters of other states were added to Bengal's voter list.”

Ghosh claimed that while similar issues surfaced during elections in Delhi and now Maharashtra, it was in Bengal where the issue was detected and challenged early on. “This was a plot,” he said. “We had been making these allegations for much longer. Mamata ji was the first in the country to protest against this.”

He further added, “At the time of the Maharashtra election, it was the responsibility of the Opposition there to catch this. But they could not identify it at that time.”
