New Delhi: Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and renowned poet Kumar Vishwas has congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on its victory in the Delhi Assembly elections while delivering a scathing attack on AAP’s leadership.
Taking to social media, Vishwas credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for BJP’s success, stating, "PM Modi and HM Amit Shah played a very important role, did micro-level management."
However, his sharpest remarks were directed at his former party, AAP, and its leadership. Reflecting on the party’s journey, he said, "Thirteen years ago, a wave of political renaissance came in India, from where something good could have happened. That whole war, that whole struggle... the downfall happened because of a shameless man, a self-absorbed, insecure person who acted like Duryodhan."
While Vishwas did not name anyone directly, his reference was widely interpreted as an attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. His statement, "I believe that this is only the first defeat," hinted at more political setbacks ahead for AAP.
Kumar Vishwas, once a close aide of Kejriwal and a founding member of AAP, had a fallout with the party leadership years ago. Since then, he has been a vocal critic of Kejriwal, often accusing him of betraying the ideals on which AAP was built.
