Hyderabad, Telangana: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday accused the ruling Congress party of large-scale voter manipulation and electoral malpractice ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election.

Addressing the media, KTR claimed that over the past few months, Congress workers have allegedly collaborated with local officials to manipulate voter rolls. “It appears that the Congress party has instructed its cadre to work with lower-level officials and induct at least 50 votes at every booth,” he said.

KTR stated that the BRS delegation had met the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana and presented evidence of “massive irregularities,” including cases of multiple voter ID cards being issued to single individuals. “There has been heavy duplication of votes. Each person has three EPIC cards. On one single day, September 2nd, thousands of votes were added — a clear indication of malpractice,” he alleged.

According to KTR, nearly 19,000 new votes were added in a single update, raising serious concerns over the fairness of the electoral process. He added that while the CEO assured the party of a review, the BRS would approach the courts if no corrective action is taken.

“We hope the Central Election Commission, which has been under pressure, will ensure justice,” KTR said, adding that the Congress, while accusing others of “vote chori” in Bihar, was itself engaging in similar practices in Telangana.
