Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, while speaking at an event in the capital, expressed his pride in the success of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which he described as having evolved into a people's movement. Rijiju participated in several programmes promoting the nationwide cleanliness initiative and underscored the importance of community involvement.
"Today I got the opportunity to participate in many programmes, and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which has been launched across India, has become a people's movement," Rijiju said, highlighting the active participation of citizens in the campaign aimed at keeping the country clean.
He further encouraged widespread involvement, stressing that maintaining cleanliness is not just the responsibility of the government but a collective effort. "We want everyone to participate in such programmes," he stated, urging individuals from all walks of life to contribute to the initiative’s success.
Rijiju emphasized that a clean India would foster a sense of pride among its citizens, reinforcing the significance of maintaining hygiene and sanitation across the nation. "If India remains clean, we will all be proud of it," he concluded, underscoring the importance of cleanliness in building national identity and pride.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, launched in 2014, continues to gather momentum, with the government aiming to instill cleanliness as a core value in Indian society.
