New Delhi: BJP MP Kiran Choudhry took a strong stand against the Congress in the ongoing debate over BR Ambedkar’s legacy, accusing the party of misusing his name for political gains. She also voiced support for RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent statement, emphasizing the patriotic nature of the organization.
Criticizing Congress, Choudhry said, “You (Congress) have brought Ambedkar to his (Rahul Gandhi) level. Every point was discussed in detail by our Home Minister, even about how the Congress behaved with Ambedkar. When he resigned from the cabinet, Nehru said that it wouldn't make any difference. The truth has been revealed in the public domain, and all this is being said to bake political bread.”
She further accused Congress of distorting Ambedkar’s legacy for political purposes. “For this purpose, they roam around everywhere with a small book of the Constitution. If someone has distorted the Constitution, it was Congress,” she asserted.
Choudhry also commented on Mohan Bhagwat's recent remarks, defending them as accurate and relevant. “RSS is a group of patriots who serve the nation, and what has been said was correct. This statement should be well understood by all politicians,” she stated, urging political leaders to comprehend Bhagwat’s message.
The remarks highlight the BJP's continued efforts to underscore Congress’ alleged mishandling of Ambedkar’s legacy while aligning themselves with nationalist sentiments, as articulated by the RSS. The debate over Ambedkar’s contributions and legacy continues to be a flashpoint in Indian politics.
