Mysuru, Karnataka: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday addressed a large public gathering in Mysuru, where he strongly criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of undermining the Indian Constitution and failing to contribute meaningfully to governance.

Speaking at the event, Kharge asserted that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has consistently prioritized Mysuru’s development, both during his tenure as Finance Minister and now as the Chief Minister. “No matter what project there is, Siddaramaiah gives priority to Mysuru first, because he loves Mysuru very much,” Kharge said.

Turning to the BJP and RSS, Kharge accused them of raising calls to rewrite the Constitution. “The BJP and RSS are saying that the Constitution should be rewritten. No matter how much they try, the Constitution cannot be changed,” he said, stressing the enduring legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution.

Kharge added sharply, “If the Constitution is changed, you will all be dead,” pointing to what he called a dangerous precedent in undermining constitutional values. He also criticized those questioning Ambedkar’s role. “They ask whether he alone made the Constitution—if not, did your grandfather do it? Did the RSS do it? The main reason for the Constitution being made was Babasaheb Ambedkar.”
