Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan held a crucial meeting to address the rehabilitation of residents displaced by devastating landslides in the Chooralmala, Mundakkai, and Punchirimattam wards of Meppadi Grama Panchayat. The meeting focused on coordinating efforts to provide permanent housing solutions for disaster-affected families.
During the session, several sponsors pledged their support for the construction of homes for the displaced families. The initiative aims to build fewer than 100 homes in the affected areas, ensuring safe and sustainable living conditions for those who lost their homes in the natural calamity.
CM Vijayan emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the crisis. “Rehabilitation of those affected by natural disasters is a top priority for the government. We are grateful to the sponsors for their commitment to this cause,” he said.
The landslides, triggered by heavy rains, caused widespread destruction in the region, displacing numerous families and leaving a trail of devastation. The state government has been actively working to provide relief and rehabilitation to those impacted, with housing emerging as a critical component of the recovery process.
