New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to restore the 11 percent import duty on cotton imports from the United States, arguing that the withdrawal of the tariff is harming Indian farmers.

“We demand from PM Modi that this order of withdrawing 11% import duty on cotton should be withdrawn with immediate effect and the 11% import duty should be imposed again on cotton coming from America and farmers of our country should be saved,” Kejriwal said.

The AAP leader maintained that domestic cotton growers are facing increasing challenges due to the influx of cheaper imports, which he claimed could undermine rural livelihoods and destabilize the agricultural sector.
