Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday underscored the critical role of universal access to healthcare and education in a nation’s development, citing post-World War II recoveries of Japan and Germany as examples.
Speaking at a health card distribution ceremony in Chandigarh, Kejriwal said, “No country can grow until all people of that country have access to quality education and healthcare. After World War II, Japan and Germany were completely destroyed. Yet, they became one of the largest economies of the world within a few years.”
He pointed out that both nations achieved rapid progress by prioritizing public welfare policies, particularly in healthcare, adding, “All of these countries focused on quality healthcare for all of their people. We should have also prioritised this right after independence.”
The AAP leader used the occasion to reiterate his party’s focus on improving quality of life for common citizens, noting that the distribution of health cards was part of the party’s broader vision to deliver accessible and affordable healthcare across the country.
“AAP is doing the groundwork to improve the common people's quality of life,” he said.
