NEW DELHI – AAP national convenor and Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed a public gathering in Badli on Tuesday, where he promised to waive water bills for residents of Delhi if his party forms the government in the upcoming elections.

Kejriwal, who has long championed affordable utilities, expressed frustration over the sudden spike in water bills, accusing the BJP and the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of conspiring to impose the charges. “Until a year ago, everyone’s water bill was zero. I don’t know what conspiracy they (BJP) hatched with L-G, now everyone’s getting Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh bill,” he said.

The AAP leader assured the crowd that under his leadership, these bills would be waived once his party is in power. “There’s no need to pay those bills. After forming the government in Delhi, I will get all those water bills waived off,” Kejriwal promised.

Kejriwal’s statement is part of his ongoing campaign to appeal to the electorate with promises of financial relief, especially in light of rising utility costs. As Delhi heads toward the 2025 elections, water and electricity pricing have become hot-button issues, with AAP seeking to position itself as the defender of the common man’s interests against what it describes as the oppressive policies of the BJP.
