Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has outlined what he described as three distinct phases in Punjab’s governance, marking a transition from alleged past malpractices to his party’s current development-focused agenda. Speaking at an event in Chandigarh, he emphasised the government’s aim to make administration more responsive to public and industry needs.
Kejriwal characterised the period before the AAP came to power as one dominated by an “extortionist system” or “wasooli system,” claiming that it created barriers for businesses and citizens. He said the second phase began with AAP’s entry into governance, introducing policies designed to be more industry-friendly and transparent.
Announcing what he termed the third phase, Kejriwal said the administration would adopt a “revolutionary” approach in which the Chief Minister and the government would operate in line with the priorities of the people and industry. As part of this shift, he revealed the formation of committees across 24 different sectors, tasked with guiding development initiatives and ensuring policies reflect ground-level needs.
