AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal visited the family members of Manish, a murder victim in the Pitampura case, and demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing Delhi Police of negligence and attempting to cover up the crime.
A few days ago, two men, Himanshu and Manish, were attacked by a group of seven to eight people around 3 a.m. While Manish succumbed to multiple stab wounds at the scene, Himanshu survived the assault. Kejriwal stated that if the police had acted swiftly and taken Manish to the hospital, he could have been saved.
“Manish was stabbed several times and he died on the spot. However, Himanshu survived. If the police had taken Manish to the hospital on time, he would have been saved too,” Kejriwal said, highlighting what he called the police’s failure in handling the case.
The Delhi Chief Minister also pointed out discrepancies in the police investigation, claiming that Himanshu’s statement had not yet been recorded. “The statement which has been taken isn’t of Himanshu. This shows that the police clearly want to save the culprits,” he alleged.
Kejriwal further intensified his criticism, urging Amit Shah to resign if he could not ensure the safety of Delhi’s residents and hold the police accountable. “If Home Minister Amit Shah does not want to take the responsibility of Delhi, then he should resign,” Kejriwal added.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage, with calls for a thorough investigation and swift justice for the victim. The opposition parties continue to accuse the Delhi Police of mishandling several cases, which they argue reflects a broader failure in ensuring law and order under the BJP-led central government.
