Delhi: Senior Congress MP KC Venugopal on Friday intensified the party’s criticism of the Bihar Assembly election outcome, calling the results “unbelievable” and alleging serious lapses in the electoral process. Speaking after leaving the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Venugopal said the INDIA bloc was united in its doubts about the mandate delivered in the state.
“The result which has come from Bihar is unbelievable for all of us. Our alliance parties do not believe it,” he said, arguing that the outcome defied political assessments and ground-level reports received by the coalition. He claimed that party workers had highlighted inconsistencies during and after the counting process, prompting a detailed internal review.
Venugopal accused the Election Commission of acting in a “totally one-sided” manner, asserting that its conduct had raised fundamental questions about the credibility of the election. “This process is questionable,” he said, signalling the party’s intent to escalate the matter both politically and procedurally.
According to him, Congress teams are currently compiling booth-level records, including voter lists and Form 17C data, to verify alleged discrepancies. “We are collecting data and conducting a thorough analysis, and within one to two weeks, we will provide concrete proof,” he said.
