Gulmarg, Jammu & Kashmir: In a powerful statement highlighting a shift in public sentiment, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday praised the people of Kashmir for their spontaneous and unified condemnation of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. Speaking during a public interaction in Gulmarg, Abdullah noted that this was the first time in recent memory that the common people, without prompting from political or religious figures, came forward on their own to denounce terrorism.
“For the first time, the people of Kashmir came forward to condemn the attack,” said Abdullah. “No politician, religious leader can take credit for it. The people themselves came forward. They condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that this development marked a significant shift in the region’s socio-political atmosphere. He described it as a moment of awakening and maturity within civil society, where citizens are increasingly willing to take a stand against violence and extremism without relying on traditional voices of authority.
