Pahalgam, May 31 — In a poignant moment of remembrance and resilience, a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits visited Pahalgam on Friday to pay tribute to the 26 civilians killed in the terror attack on April 22. The group offered prayers for the victims and conveyed a heartfelt message of unity and peace in the wake of the tragedy that shook the region.
Standing solemnly at the site of the attack, a member of the delegation said, “We have come here with the message of peace, brotherhood and humanity. Everyone is united. We can only progress if we stay together. The incident on 22nd April has had a huge impact on us.”
The delegation’s visit marked a powerful gesture of solidarity across communities in Kashmir. Many in the group, including those who had once fled the Valley due to militancy in the 1990s, expressed hope for a future built on reconciliation and collective strength. “We pray that the people who lost their lives rest in peace and their families get strength,” one of them said, visibly emotional.
The April 22 attack, which targeted civilians during peak pilgrimage activity, triggered nationwide outrage and prompted India to launch Operation Sindoor, a military response targeting terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
