Karnataka govt. Tells SC It Hasn’t Blocked Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thug Life’, Assures Protection

Bengaluru, Karnataka | The Karnataka government has officially clarified before the Supreme Court that it has not imposed any restriction on the release of Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film Thug Life within the state. In a detailed affidavit filed in response to the ongoing controversy surrounding the film's potential screening in Karnataka, the state has assured full cooperation for its release.
In its submission, the government stated that there is no existing order or directive from any department or authority within Karnataka to prevent the theatrical release of Thug Life. The affidavit further asserts that the producers of the film are free to proceed with the release and that the state machinery will extend necessary support to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the same.
“The State government has not imposed any restriction on the release of the movie Thug Life and will duly provide protection and security for such release and for the people connected to the film, if the producers of the film decide to release it in Karnataka,” the affidavit reads.
