Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday responded to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) plan to stage roadblocks in protest over pothole-related concerns in Bengaluru. He defended the state government’s ongoing efforts, emphasizing that the administration is committed to resolving citizens’ problems rather than engaging in political confrontation.
“We are here to solve people’s problems. If others want to play politics, let them do so. This evening, the Chief Minister himself is holding a review meeting,” Shivakumar said. He explained that potholes were not created deliberately but were a natural outcome of heavy rains.
The Deputy CM highlighted that more than 7,000 potholes had already been filled across the city, with another 5,000 set to be addressed soon. “The Police Commissioner has been instructed to submit reports to help identify the affected areas,” he added.
Shivakumar also dismissed allegations of bias in resource allocation, asserting that his administration treats all constituencies equally. “I have never discriminated between constituencies, whether BJP MLAs or others, I have extended equal support and resources to all,” he stated.
