Karnataka Deputy CM Assures Protection of Lalbagh Amid Tunnel Project Plans

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar says Lalbagh will not be disturbed during upcoming tunnel works, with construction limited to a small area and protective measures in place.

Bengaluru, Karnataka: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar addressed concerns regarding planned tunnel works near Lalbagh, assuring that the historic garden would not be affected.

"We have seen the entire Lalbagh and the planning of the tunnel. We instructed them that we will not use anything, only the curtain cover which has been for the opening. It will be done in a small area of half an acre. It will be utilised on the border of the compound," Shivakumar said, emphasizing careful planning to safeguard the site.

The Deputy CM further noted that authorities are aware of the importance of protecting Lalbagh and assured the public that no disturbance would occur. "We know how to protect this area… We are not disturbing Lalbagh… We'll take care of it," he added, reiterating the administration’s commitment to preserving the garden while implementing infrastructure projects in its vicinity
