Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday met with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, seeking approvals and support for several development initiatives in the state, including the establishment of a defence corridor and hosting an air show during the upcoming Mysuru Dasara celebrations.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Siddaramaiah said, “We have sought permission to hold an air show during the Mysuru Dasara celebrations. Along with this, we requested to set up a defence corridor in Karnataka. They have already done so in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. We have requested to set up a similar corridor in Karnataka.”

He added that land had also been requested for multiple infrastructure projects, including a tunnel, a link road, and a double-decker road on the airport route in Karnataka. “He (Rajnath Singh) said permission will be given for the air show. He also responded positively to other requests,” the Chief Minister noted.

Siddaramaiah further stated that a request has been made to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Delhi. “We have sought time to meet the Prime Minister tomorrow. If we get time, we will meet him,” he said.

Clarifying the political context of his visit, he added, “There was no scheduled meeting with Rahul Gandhi… We haven’t yet received an appointment to meet Rahul Gandhi.”
