Medak, June 17: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha has urged the Central Government to act swiftly and secure Presidential assent for the Backward Class (OBC) reservation bill recently passed by the Telangana Legislature. The bill proposes 42 per cent reservation for OBCs across the state.
Addressing the media, Kavitha stated, “The Telangana Assembly and Council have passed a reservation bill providing 42 per cent reservation for OBCs. It is being sent to the Central Government and we are waiting for Presidential assent. We demand the BJP-led Central Government to take initiative and pass this bill.”
The reservation bill, which aims to enhance social equity and representation for backward classes in education and employment, reflects a longstanding demand from various community groups in Telangana. Kavitha’s appeal highlights the political and administrative bottlenecks that can delay implementation even after a bill has cleared state-level legislative hurdles.
