Khamman: Telangana Jagruthi President K Kavitha on Tuesday announced a statewide tour aimed at drawing attention to issues affecting the youth, children and the health sector. Speaking during an outreach programme, she said the objective of the campaign is to raise concerns in an “apolitical manner” and to ensure that the government takes corrective steps promptly.

“We are on a state-wide tour to highlight issues relating to the youth, young children and the health sector,” Kavitha said. She emphasised that the intention is not political confrontation but constructive engagement. “Wherever we are going, we are trying to highlight these issues in an apolitical manner and bring them to the government's attention. We are demanding that the government pay more attention and focus on resolving these issues,” she added.

In addition to social-sector concerns, Kavitha sharply criticised the state government’s recent decision on local body elections. She alleged that the Congress government in Telangana has chosen to proceed with elections to elect Sarpanchs without ensuring the 42% reservation for the Backward Classes (BC) community.

“The Congress government yesterday stated that it is going ahead with local body elections without the 42% reservation to the BC community. We are strongly opposing it,” she said, calling the move a setback for social justice. Kavitha demanded that the state fight for OBC reservation rather than “caving in” and conducting polls without ensuring mandated representation.
