In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Jagdambika Pal, the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and BJP MP, provided an update on the ongoing discussions surrounding the Waqf Amendment Bill. Speaking to the media, Pal highlighted the comprehensive dialogues held in both Mumbai and Ahmedabad, emphasizing the committee's commitment to gathering diverse perspectives on the legislation.

“Detailed discussions took place regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. Yesterday, we were in Mumbai, and today we are in Ahmedabad,” Pal noted. He elaborated on the key participants in the meeting, which included Gujarat's Home Minister, officials from the state Waqf board, the chairman of the minority commission, Islamic scholars, and other stakeholders. “We listened to their views and suggestions,” he stated, underscoring the importance of inclusivity in the legislative process.

The Waqf Amendment Bill aims to address various issues related to the management and governance of Waqf properties, and the discussions in Ahmedabad were crucial for understanding the implications of the proposed changes. Pal assured that the committee would carefully consider all feedback received during the meetings. “Our committee will ponder it,” he affirmed, indicating a thoughtful approach to finalizing the bill.
