BJP National President JP Nadda, addressing a press conference in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, on Sunday, praised the development trajectory of Chamba district under the Centre’s Aspirational Districts programme while strongly criticizing the state government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

Recounting his visit to Chamba for the Aspirational District review meeting, Nadda highlighted the initiative as a key part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model. “PM Modi shared the idea of the Aspirational District in 2018, and we included the Chamba district in that. When I look at the parameters, I feel satisfied that Chamba has progressed well in such a short period,” he said.

Nadda pointed to improvements in financial inclusion, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and irrigation in the region, emphasizing that the Centre’s focused approach had yielded tangible results in remote areas. However, he noted that some areas still needed attention. “There are a few points which bothered me as well, and I have informed the district administration,” he added.

The BJP chief took a direct swipe at the Congress-led state government, accusing it of politicizing Centre-state relations. “Sukhu’s government is trying to create a narrative that the Centre doesn’t care about the state and doesn’t provide funds to Himachal,” Nadda asserted.

He urged the state administration to cooperate with the Centre rather than engage in “blame games,” and reaffirmed the Modi government’s commitment to inclusive development across all states, regardless of political differences.
