Union Minister JP Nadda on Saturday visited Pune to participate in Ganesh Utsav celebrations, where he performed puja and highlighted the festival’s enduring cultural and social significance.
Speaking on the occasion, Nadda said, “On the occasion of Ganesh Utsav, I had the opportunity to visit Pune. We all know how Lokmanya Tilak inspired people to celebrate this festival, and today, society continues that inspiration with such grandeur. I performed puja of Ganpati Bappa today, and from him we receive new energy and inspiration.”
Ganesh Utsav, one of Maharashtra’s most widely celebrated festivals, was popularized as a public event by freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak in the late 19th century to foster unity and social awakening. Pune, considered the heart of the festival, continues to host large community celebrations, drawing devotees and visitors from across the country.
