Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday joined a unity march titled ‘Ek Bharat Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ Padyatra in Vadodara, Gujarat, held to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event celebrated the legacy of India’s first Home Minister, often referred to as the ‘Iron Man of India,’ and recognised his pivotal role in unifying the nation after Independence.
Addressing the gathering, LG Sinha stated that the padyatra reflects collective resolve and national commitment towards building a stronger and self-reliant India. He noted that India’s pride in its cultural plurality and unity in diversity can be attributed significantly to Patel’s remarkable efforts in integrating princely states and laying the foundation of a united republic.
“This Padyatara symbolises the collective resolve to build India, and it also symbolises the impetus to build a ‘Viksit Bharat’,” Sinha said. He added that Patel’s vision continues to inspire development initiatives across the nation, with the march serving as a reminder of the values of cohesion, integrity and progress.
