Poonch, J&K – J&K Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra has voiced strong opposition to the central government's approach toward the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood. In a recent statement, Karra emphasized the Congress’s ongoing campaign, "Humari Riyasat Humara Haq," aimed at regaining the lost identity, status, and rights of the erstwhile princely state.
Karra accused the BJP of employing diversionary tactics to downplay the importance of statehood restoration. He recalled the government's assurances made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah before the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, which many felt promised a brighter future for J&K. However, Karra believes the BJP’s actions have failed to meet those promises.
“The BJP is attempting to mislead the public by creating the false narrative that Jammu and Kashmir gained independence in 2014, when the BJP’s government came into power,” Karra asserted. He pointed out that people who initially celebrated the removal of Article 370 are now regretting their support, especially as the region faces unforeseen consequences.
