Patna: Union Minister Jitam Ram Manjhi on Saturday strongly endorsed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks linking Bihar’s mandate to development and signalling political intent toward West Bengal. Responding to the Prime Minister’s statement that “Ganga flows through Bihar and reaches Bengal… BJP will uproot jungle raj from West Bengal as well,” Manjhi said the PM had accurately captured the concerns of the people, particularly issues related to migration.

“What he said is right. The biggest thing is that he understands the issue of migration here,” Manjhi noted, praising the Prime Minister for inviting investors to Bihar and creating an environment conducive to economic growth. He said the priority was ensuring employment for Bihar’s youth within the state, reducing the compulsion to migrate in search of work.

Manjhi credited the sweeping electoral mandate to both PM Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “They have taken this up as their responsibility… They are not jubilant; they now have the pressure of the huge mandate and must work for it,” he said, adding, “Achhe din of Bihar are here. In five years, Bihar will be transformed.”

Turning to West Bengal, Manjhi echoed the BJP’s growing political focus on the state. “It is Bengal next. There is poverty, atrocities and corruption in Bengal. Outsiders have settled there… They have to be ousted and it is essential that an NDA government forms there,” he said.
