As anticipation builds for the India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match, Janata Dal (United) leader Neeraj Kumar has urged against politicising the sporting contest. Speaking to the media ahead of the high-profile clash, he said cricket should remain a reflection of peace and sportsmanship rather than being entangled in political debates.

“If there's a cricket match between India and Pakistan then why should it be seen as a problem? Bringing politics into sports is unnecessary. India is a nation that values peace, and cricket should reflect that spirit,” Kumar stated.

He also took a swipe at All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi, who has been critical of holding matches with Pakistan. Kumar remarked that those seeking to politicise cricket should first examine the sporting credentials of their allies. “If Asaduddin Owaisi want to politicise cricket, they should first ask Tejashwi Yadav how many matches he has played and how well he performed,” he said.
