Patna, Bihar, June 4, 2025 — The Janata Dal (United) has lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent comment labelling Bihar the "crime capital of India." JD(U) spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad criticized Gandhi for what he called “political hypocrisy” and questioned his silence on the recent Bengaluru stampede tragedy, which claimed 11 lives.

“He should be in Bengaluru. Such a tragedy has taken place there — he should have asked the (Karnataka) Chief Minister to resign,” Ranjan said. Highlighting the loss of lives and injuries due to “poor management and the negligence of the police and administration,” he accused Gandhi of ignoring accountability within his own party’s ruled state.

Refuting the ‘crime capital’ tag, Ranjan defended Bihar’s law enforcement, stating, “When a crime happens in Bihar, the police make arrests. If needed, like in the Muzaffarpur case, the government orders a speedy trial. Arrests are being made continuously in such cases, and the investigation is ongoing.”
