Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) national president Jayant Chaudhary addressed party leaders and workers in Delhi on Friday, outlining the party’s roadmap for the coming months while also reflecting on broader political developments within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Chaudhary began his speech by invoking the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, emphasizing his universal appeal beyond caste lines. “B.R. Ambedkar was not just a leader for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. He framed our Constitution and was a liberal, progressive leader who worked to bring people into the mainstream,” he said, urging party workers to draw inspiration from Ambedkar’s inclusive vision.
Announcing a nationwide push for party expansion, Chaudhary revealed that RLD members would conduct an intensive membership drive over the next six months, targeting both urban and rural areas. He also confirmed that the party’s internal elections are scheduled to take place between October 15 and November, during which the next national president will be chosen.
On the political front, Chaudhary welcomed the return of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) to the NDA fold. “Yesterday’s expansion of the NDA, with AIADMK rejoining, reflects the growing confidence in NDA’s policies and Prime Minister Modi’s leadership,” he remarked. He echoed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement in Parliament, asserting that this move represents a “big step” toward NDA forming the next government in Tamil Nadu.
