By a Staff Reporter : External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made it clear that India is looking for real partners, not advisers. Addressing Europe, he said that building relations requires mutual respect, sensitivity and understanding of mutual interests.

The reason behind this comment is a tweet by the European Union's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas. In it, he urged India and Pakistan to "show restraint", but did not even mention the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, in which 26 innocent people were killed. The incident has led to accusations of "double standards" and bias against him on social media.
Jaishankar said, "We look to the world for partners, not advisers - especially someone who wants to teach other countries what they do not practice in their own country." He said that some parts of Europe have not yet overcome this mentality, but some have started to understand the reality.

He also said that if Europe really wants to improve relations with India, then it needs to understand how the current world works and build relations accordingly.
