New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Saturday underscored the enduring strength of India–Russia relations, describing the partnership as one of the “steadiest” major-power relationships in the world. Speaking at the Hindustan Times Summit, the minister said that despite dramatic geopolitical shifts over the past seven to eight decades, the India–Russia equation has displayed exceptional continuity and resilience.
“If you look at India–Russia, the world has seen a lot of ups and downs in the last 70–80 years,” Jaishankar said. “I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: India–Russia has actually been among the steadiest big relationships—big power or big country relationships—in the world.”
He noted that President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to India reflected the depth of the partnership, not just at the political level but also economically. According to Jaishankar, Putin arrived with a “very large business delegation, literally numbering multiple hundreds,” which he said gave the visit a unique scale and substance.
