Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has voiced strong criticism regarding the state's financial crisis, underscoring the economic difficulties faced by Himachal Pradesh. In a recent statement, Thakur acknowledged the severity of the situation and pointed out inconsistencies in the opposition’s stance on the crisis.
“There is no doubt that there is an economic crisis in the state,” Thakur said, referring to the ongoing financial troubles. He highlighted a concerning issue that has surfaced for the first time in the state's history: delays in salary payments to government employees and pension disbursements to retirees. “This is happening for the first time in the history of Himachal Pradesh that the government employees did not receive their salaries on time and pensioners did not get their pensions. The reason is the financial crisis,” he asserted.
Thakur also took aim at the state’s Chief Minister, accusing him of shifting blame for the crisis. “One thing that he (CM) has come up with is whatever trouble arises in the state, he blames either me or PM Modi,” Thakur remarked. This accusation underscores Thakur’s critique of the government’s approach to handling the economic difficulties and its communication regarding the causes of the crisis.
The Leader of Opposition’s comments reflect ongoing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition, with financial management and accountability at the forefront of political debate. As the state grapples with its economic challenges, Thakur's statements highlight the growing frustration and demands for more effective governance and transparency.
