Belagavi, Karnataka: Congress MP Jairam Ramesh launched a blistering attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership, accusing them of undermining the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Speaking at a Congress rally in Belagavi, Ramesh alleged that the ideology of the RSS was directly responsible for Mahatma Gandhi's assassination.

"It is the RSS ideology that killed Mahatma Gandhi. Godse belonged to the RSS. It was the RSS environment, Savarkar, and everybody else who inspired Godse to kill Mahatma Gandhi," he stated.

Ramesh further criticized the RSS and BJP for their alleged disregard for the Constitution and the nation’s foundational figures. "They have never accepted the Constitution, Mahatma Gandhi, or BR Ambedkar," he added.

He also took aim at RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, accusing him of disrespecting the freedom movement. "Mohan Bhagwat just a few days ago has insulted the entire freedom movement," he claimed.
