Jaipur: Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday said the reconstruction work at Jaipur railway station is progressing as planned, calling it a project of “great pride” for Rajasthan.

During a visit to the site, Vaishnaw personally inspected the redevelopment work and directed officials to accelerate construction, particularly at the main entrance, to ensure timely completion. He stressed that modernisation of railway infrastructure is a priority for the government, aimed at improving passenger experience and connectivity.

The minister also announced that Vande Bharat Express services would soon begin between Jodhpur and Delhi as well as Bikaner and Delhi, enhancing faster rail travel options for passengers in western Rajasthan. “The introduction of these services will significantly boost connectivity for the region,” he said.

Officials noted that the Jaipur station redevelopment project includes upgraded facilities, improved passenger amenities, and a modern architectural design to handle increasing footfall. The initiative is part of the larger programme to modernise major railway stations across the country.
